*BTW, this is a way-chilled-out tune, which is only first on the list due it being a number, so if it’s too slow for you try another tune from the list … mind you they are mostly all acoustic so if you’re after speed-punk-thrash-hip-hop then best hop on yer bike …

700ks

By Séamus

What am I doin’ here,
On the south side of the stream?
What am I doin’ here,
On the south side of the stream?
Just rattlin’ these dry
And dusty bones of my
Long dead dream.

What am I doin’ here,
Listenin’ to those trains come rattlin’ in?
What am I doin’ here,
Listenin’ to those trains come rattlin’ in?
Just beggin’ the Good Lord to forgive me,
For my despicable sins.

And why,
Am I,
700ks away from you?

And what am I doin’ here,
Starin’ at this open fire?
What am I doin’ here,
Starin’ at this open fire?
Just tryin’ to cage or clip,
These restless, feathery wings,
Of my desire.

And why,
Am I,
700ks away from you?

Comment: I wrote this one in 1998 when I was (with my mate Jimmi B) running a vegetarian cafe in Prahran, Melbourne called Feedwell Cafe. It was right across the road from Prahran Station and on this particular evening I was by myself after the cafe had closed with a bottle of red and an open fire crackling, truly listen to trains rattle in, and missing my then girlfriend who was back in Adelaide, from where I had only recently moved to Melbourne from.
