I’ve done stuff like that. It’s a classic example of someone who doesn’t know the value of his own time.

Let’s say you make (or want to make) $50k a year. This roughly (well, maybe not quite, but this is not the point) translates to $25/hour. If you spend one day (8 hours) making CDs, that means you just spent $200 on it.

To make it worse, here’s another truth. Money is renewable. Time is not. You can always make money. But not time.

It’s been a tough lesson to learn, as if you physically don’t have money, you may sometimes have to pay with more expensive currency — your time. But this line of thinking can help us figure out which is the currency to spend on any task: time or money.

Because make no mistake, we’re paying for everything, one way or another.
